The Human Face

Intelligent, educated, dedicated, enthusiastic, resourceful, inquiring, forward-thinking. These adjectives aptly describe the human face—the people—that mining industry employers are looking for.

Today's mining industry requires workers who can integrate sophisticated equipment and leading-edge technology in every aspect of mining operations. The skills needed range from mining extraction expertise and mineral process technology to computer technology and information management, among others.

It is interesting to note that many of the jobs found in the mining industry today largely mirror those of any large corporation: accountants, educators, engineers, environmental scientists, financiers, lawyers, marketing professionals, and skilled workers. Besides the broad range of careers available, jobs in the mining industry offer competitive compensation packages and opportunities for advancement.

The need has never been greater for mining career awareness programs, standardization of skills and training requirements, and solutions founded on accurate labour market information and forecasting. MiHR's activities focus on raising the awareness of industry stakeholders and working with the stakeholders to develop human resources solutions that work.
